Reminiscing on Adelaide in Melbourne
As much as I try to find an editor's angle to today's newsbreaking story, I think I should warn you that this is going to be a run-of-the-mill travelogue of what we did today. So if you can be bothered, read on! In true Malaysian style, our day started late. After exchanging some very hearty hugs and squeals of how much we missed each other, we set off on our tour of Melbourne city.
It was a fairly regular day, with nothing much to shout about. Lunch consisted of really bad lasagna and 'warm' chicken salad which really was cold (and the coffee was bad too but that's another story. To avoid this place, ask us personally).
We set off after lunch to a magical-sounding place called Mordialloc (we prefer to call it Mordor for convenience's sake) but I swear South Australian beaches are heaps better and so much more accessible. We headed straight for the water, splashing about like kids and picking up a few water-polo tips from resident water-polo player Adrian. Sun-baking after was fantabulous to say the least, although the threat of skin cancer was always lurking at the back of our minds (or mine at least). We spent another 1867years on the train heading back into the city, after which we dined at grill'd for some overpriced burgers.
After that I hounded everyone for coffee as we all know no meal is complete without coffee. We walked all over, but goodness me, Melbourne is almost as bad as Adelaide when it comes to finding a place to just sit and chill at night! We finally ended up where we had lunch, and I thought we could make some leeway for past mistakes and give them the benefit of the doubt when it came to coffee, but ugh I should have listened to Sam's nagging about the place. I ended up with the most mediocre cup of overpriced caffeine juice, thus ending our first day on a rather blase note. Yay to no fights, for today. Boo to waking up early tomorrow. Although there's something to look forward to - Manchester Press! (Hopefully they have good coffeeeeee!) Adios for now.
